There is a large foreign community in Crete which is growing rapidly by the years. Since Greece has opened up its laws to allow foreigners to purchase property there have been a steady influx of people moving to Crete either permanently or temporarily in the summer months.
There are a few international organizations that arrange walks, social evenings etc.
